The battery for my P7010 decided to take a crap on me today at work. It was charged up Sun. night, I used it for a half hour at work on my lunch Mon. and Tues. and today when I went to use it it didn't power my computer. I knew I had about at least a 3 hour charge left so what happened to my battery?
Yesterday after work I went out with my GF and had the LT with me, it was a very hot and humid day and while I was carrying my LT with me outside and inside shopping malls (air cond) could the heat decide to drain my battery power that much? I didn't touch it when I returned home and was stored inside the fujitsu sleeve that came with my computer. Right now I have it on AC and the battery seems to be charging. Should I try to get a new battery from Fujitsu under warranty or is it ok for the battery to totally lose charge because of the heat and humidity outside yesterday? Thanks.

Is your comp on hibernate, off, or standy when you leave it?
-
I think you should do a couple more time trials from full charges. 4 hours to 30 minutes is a big drop, but I wouldn't base it on one experience only.
-David -
Yes usually when I'm done using at work or elsewhere I hibernate it before putting it back in the sleeve.
I had a chat with a Fujitsu tech person online last night and told him about this issue. He also told me to keep an eye on the battery charge life for the next couple of uses and if it seems to die earlier than it should I will get a new battery under warranty.
Right now I'm using it on my lunch posting this and the battery was charged up last night, I used it this morning for about 15mins on battery and my bat. life now shows 5:40 mins left, will keep you guys updated on this.

I recall issues with either hibernate or standby (can't really remember) but sometimes the computer will fail to go into that mode and continue to run.
I think it had to do with software that ran in the background preventing the computer to go to switch to a more energy conservative mode. -
What is the warranty length on a battery? Is it one year even if you have a 3yr overall warranty?
-David -
It is one year according to the tech that I had the online chat with yesterday. It doesn't matter if you have the 3 year local warranty the battery is still only covered for one year from date of sale.

edit: at home using it now, battery life now 4h 43mins 93% charge left.

It might be possible that it never made it to standby, sometimes they hang and never power off.
