Anyone seen or heard anything about it yet? The FSC spec sheet for the Xi 1546/1547 says the Core duo 2 is and option.Maybe we will see it come when the new chip is available.
    Maybe next month.........maybe......

Remember, it took Fujitsu ages to release an update of the M3438G, to Core Duo, and they'll probably take just as long to upgrade the XI. Yes, Core 2 Duo will bring a slighly faster architecture to the table, and 64-bit, but you'll have to wait. The price most likely will be on the high side as well.

I went and bought mine, because I needed to buy a notebook, and looking back, I wouldn't have waited for Core 2 Duo to hit the XI. Anyway, I'm very happy with the notebook. Unless, people are doing very intensive stuff on the XI, I would go and buy a model with Core Duo. It's still a very good processor, and still more than fast enough for ven the most demanding programs. As for games, the graphics card governs that, so an increase in speed from the processor won't make much of a difference.

i really dont know mate. id really love for it to be 2x80 at 7200rpm...but i suppose its most likely not. incidently, can you physically HAVE a single 160gb hardrive in a notebook? right now, the non core 2 duo seems most likely, simply because im really under pressure to buy right away!

wait.....ive checked the spec sheet http://www.fujitsu-siemens.com/Resources/151/948767187.pdf

and if you look at the HDD part..it dosnt say anything about a 7200rpm. it even states that there will be a 160gb model in Q3 but nothing else. mind you....id dosnt say anything about 2x100gb in the model available now...soooo..you never know!!!

the core2duop model DOES come with 2gb memory installed...so i see that as a bonus!

ouch! the XPS range is **** expensive....and not nearly as nice as the XI in my opinion...oh i got it. i read a review on...wait, let me try and find it...it was in computer shopper. nope cant find it online. but lets put it simply..the XI knocked its other rivals into next week! was THAT good. it was the core2duo version by the way. 1440 x 900 resolution or soemthing....x1800 and all. aaaaaaaaaand the hardrives are 2 80gb ones...no a single 160!! so the can be RAIDED but unfortunatly..bigegr size = splashing out! both memory modules are occupied too...as it seems to be the same for all 17" notebooks! ill try to scan an image of the review...but overall..i cant wait for it...but time really is bringing me down...
