I think it varies for different models. I know that the P770/P771 series is made in Japan. I have checked this but i'm not too bothered myself where a laptop is built. I believe that the S761 series is also made in Japan. Well, according to the Fujitsu website it is made in Japan.

Remember where a laptop is "built" just refers to the point of final assembly, not all the component parts. Chances are, laptops that are "built" in Japan, China, Taiwan, and California all use CPUs, GPUs, memory etc from the same component manufacturers.

I think it's the design of the product, and the quality of components used in it, that governs how good of a product something is. Not the physical location of the plant where final assembly occurred.

My P770 has "Made in Japan" on the bottom.

The battery has "Cell made in Japan. Pack assembled in Taiwan".
