Okay I think I settled on buying a Fujitsu S6210 from P1.
My question is should I go for the 1 year or 3 year warranty?
Im always weary with warranties but I understand with laptops you need the extra time because they are fragile to begin with.
I will plan to keep the laptop as long as possible but I also plan to take care of it.
Any advice would be helpful, thanks!!!

I would skip any extended warranty, like any other electronics, if it lasts the 1st couple of months of use the components will usually last many years. If you want, do a search on the forums here with my name and warranty as the keywords and you'll find lots of info I've posted on the subject.

Generally I too say skip them, but in this case we're talking about $100. If something goes wrong in year two or three, it's going to cost you over $100 to fix. You might also consider that you get a free year when using AMEX at P1.

yeah, i never get them either, but i went w/ 3 year @ P1 because the price difference was negligible and because it's a worldwide warranty and i plan to be in europe in a year or 2.
Plus, there is a lot more mechanical wear on a laptop you carry around than on the average device. My G4 Powerbook hinge crapped out after about 6 months. With a 1-year warranty, the second time it goes you pay $300 or so. Plus it's a device you're likely to rely on a lot more than a DVD player. -
I would skip it on the machine you plan to buy. As was posted earlier, if it's going to fail it will do so in a year. Heat may be an exception to that, though. Some laptops, like mine, get very hot. All that heat can take it's toll on the internals as time goes on. So, I planned on that and got a 3 year warranty. I haven't seen anyone post about their pentium M having heat dissipation issues.

At least it must be 2 years and other 1 year will be very good bargain...but I wouldnt select 1 year warranty.

Thank you everyone for your help.
With portableone they extend the 1 year to a 3 year on the sytem I want. At least that is the promotion for now.
Hopefully it will last with no problem even with the warranty.
Thanks!!!
