Just bought it, plugged it in and started it for a first time.
When the progress bar for the inital setup reached ~70% it froze.
I then rebooted the notebook and the screen was dead - it hasn't shown anything since than - i tried booting it with/without CD - i don't even get to see the initial boot screen with F2/F12 message on it.

Tried it with external monitor (21" Sony CRT that could handle any refresh rate/resolution that a 350MHz RAMDAC could provide), but the situation is the same :/

Is there a fix for this, or i will have to contact the warranty service.

The Fujitsu-Siemens corp website is giving me an VBScript error when i chose my model from the list - seems like they are trying to make me hate them.

Does s.o. know a shortcut to a service BIOS or a test boot, or a way to Master reset the system - i tried removing the bios battery for a several minutes (with the AC power off and the main battery removed o.c.)?

If it happens that I will have to contact the warranty service would they possibli provide me with a temp. replacement nb - cause i will need mine (or theirs :)) for a presentation on tuesday (so it is kinda urgent).

    Thanks in advance.

Seems like an annoying problem/ I feel sorry for you, seeing as it was the first time you turned it on.

It seems like some motherboard or maybe a different crictical part, in your system, has gone wrong. I also had a problem with my notebook, eerily simililar to your, except, that mine would power on, and would turn it self of after a few seconds, and then power back on. It did this repeatedly.

Anyway, give Fujitsu a ring, and see what they say. I'm not sure if they'll give you a temporary notebook, but you should ask, seeing as though its important to you.

    Hope this helps.
