I plan to go for the 14.1" S7020 in a short period of time. My main concern is if i should choose the crystal view XGA or the non-crystal view SXGA! I like the crystal because the screen is brighter and color is richer, but SVGA is sharper and i can see more as fonts are smaller. Give me some advise guys.

Well I guess the main question is what you plan to be doing. If you'll be using it for productivity tasks such as editing multiple documents or coding, the sxga screen's resolution will help fit more info on the screen. If you'll be gaming mostly the xga is probably better since games will run faster on lower resolutions.
If in doubt and if the money isn't a big concern then go for the svga since you can always go for a lower resolution. This may have an impact on the quality of the pictures you'll see at the lower res, but it probably will not be too bad. Going for the xga on the other hand will not allow you to go for a higher resolution atleast not that I know of.

You must see each screen and decide really. I have a Toshiba which does 1280x800, and so far I was always happy with the screen. But the Fujitsu crystal view screen running at 1024x768 looks so much more beautiful!

So ya, it does depend on what you plan to use it for. Gaming aside, if you plan to program or something .. you need the screen real estate. Otherwise, for normal browsing, the 1024x768 will suffice, and look lovely too :)

For the type of work I do (programming), I have decided to go with the SXGA+ screen. I still haven't got my S7020D so I can't comment on how small the text is but my brother has a 15.4" wide screen laptop with WSXGA+ (1680x1050) resolution. The text is small but at the same time it is very sharp that makes it readable. Here is a link for LCD resolutions that may be helpful.

It is a trade off between font size and screen real estate- and is a personal decision. I don't like the higher resolution screens; others love them. Even if a local store doesn't have the Fujitsu, look at different screen resolutions in person to help you decide.

I am also wondering which Fujitsu to get in part because of screen options- the S6231 or the S7020D. My daughter prefers the matte screen offered with the 7020 because she hates reflections, but the font size is much too small because of the high resolution. She will be a college student and will use the notebook primarily for web surfing, word processing and watching movies- no games or high graphic needs.

I tried on my CRT monitor to change font sizes in "display" but couldn't change fonts for web pages when browsing the internet. The salesmen at J&R insisted that this was possible (increasing font size across the board). I was also told, and read here, that lowering the resolution (in "settings") will make the text generally fuzzy on LCD screens (doesn't happen on my CRT screen). Is there a solution to this problem?

    Thanks-

If you go into Display properties and increase the DPI, it will make the fonts larger. If you are looking for a XGA matte screened notebook, the ThinkPad T42/43 would be my choice. Good Luck.

I am also considering the S7020. Has anyone used it? My main concerns are that I haven't actually tried out the Fujitsus, don't know much about them, and have heard that the keyboard is a little weak. Any opinions? I am also considering the Sony S460, so if anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Dan

I have S7020D and I really love this laptop. I think the keyboard is good and my previous laptop is IBM. Both keyboards are quite the same to me. I have tried Sony laptop before and I think Fujitsu keyboard is way better than Sony keyboard.
