I finally convinced my boss that I need a laptop and that if they got me one that it would have to be a small light weight one. He agreed and gave me a $1900 limit.
The only restraint I had was that I had to buy it at a store; my boss said no online ordering.

So with that said I set out to the local Fry’s to see what they had to offer. I went to just look and feel the laptops; I thought that I would see what I liked and then go home and research. Well I ended up coming home with a Sony v505EX. It was really nice and sleek, and at the time I thought the best choice. (Fry’s only had the S6120 in stock).

Well to make a long story short, I ended up returning the Sony when I found out that Fry’s had the S6210 with the DVD burner in stock. After that I fell in love.
After having both, I really like the S6210 better. It seems lighter, is more flexible with non-fixed bays, and the screen kills Sony’s. But don't get me wrong, the V505EX is nice, and in some cases nicer than the S6210, but in the END, Fujitsu is the leader.

I listed a few of the pluses and minus of both laptops, if you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks, Evan

    --Sony—
    Pluses:
    Power management software
    Sleek look
    Wireless strength
Keyboard (better than the 6210 at least)
    Minuses:
    No BIOS
    Sony Proprietary software and hardware
    Track pad (terrible)
Fixed drive(s), no room for more batteries
    Deep
Shift key (right side) really small, bug the sh** out of me!
    No DVD Burner

    --Fujitsu—
    Pluses:
    Speed
    Full size keyboard
    Screen (very nice)
    DVD burner
    Battery (life and flexibility)
    Price
    3 mouse buttons
Home and End keys on keyboard
    Minuses:
Keyboard is kind of flimsy on the left side, read in a thread about putting 2 way
tape under keyboard, looks like it will work, I will have to try
Fan (when on low speeds has a clicking noise, retuned one and got a new one
because I thought the fan was bad, second one is the same.
    No good power management software

Hi Ebanul. Congrats on your purchase. You did the right thing buying a Fujitsu. I don't really understand your point with the keyboard, would you explain it to us? I think new S6210 keyboard is much better than old S6000 and S2000 series.
    Cheers.

    Cheers!

I'd like to know about the 6210/6120 keyboards as well. I'm looking for a new small notebook. I'd almost decided on the averatec 3225 because of the great price, but there's a problem with the keyboard -- the pads are very thin, so when you press a key it goes lower than the edge of the other keys; every so often I'd catch the tip of my finger on another key, which wasn't so fun.

I can't find any Fujitsu's locally to try out, so I'm hesitant to order sight unseen; I'll be doing a lot of typing so the comfort of the keyboard is important. I've tried a Gateway 200x locally, and it feels great.

    How's the 6210?

    Thanks

The keyboard is good as long as you type light (in my case normal). If you search and destroy or type with a heavy hand, it seems like the keyboard (on the lower left side) is not supported properly. It must have a small space between it and the support below it. It flexes just slightly and makes a little click noise as the 2 pieces of metal touch. I noticed that if I have my hands in the home positions and typed normal it is fine and comfortable. The keys have a nice pressure to them, and I like how far they go down. The only time I here the click is if I'm in a hurry and typing fast. I read that you can take apart the laptop and put a piece of foam tape between to support it more. Sounds like it will work, because if I take a tooth pick and stick it between too of the keys and apply pressure to the support (making it touch the bottom support) I can eliminate the noise. I will try it and let you know.

I like the keyboard because it has the pg-up and pg-down keys, also because the shift keys are full size (unlike the Sony I got). I will be honest with you. I did like other laptops keyboards better, but with all the other features of the laptop and the price, you can’t beat it. I’m just being picky. If you are as picky as me I would suggest testing it out first then. Good Luck!

The keys do go down lower than the edges of the other keys, but not enough to catch your finger. Your fingers would have to be tiny. I consider my fingers average size and I could get them to catch and I was trying. [ :D]

    Good info, thanks.

Can you tell me whether the edges of the keys are lower than the top of a key you've pressed? In other words, are the keys really thin, or is there more depth on the sides? I'm trying to figure out if my oversized fingers will catch the edges of the keys like they do on the Averatec, without flying to a bigger town to try one out...

    Thanks!

    Hi Mattc.
The new S6210 keyboard is great, any problem at all!!! Old S2000 and S6000 series had a drawbacks on keyboard as small period key, and so forth. Keys don't go to down, and I don;t think they make noise when typing. As Ebanul said, there're outside better keyboards on laptops as IBM Thinkpad, I personally like those the best, but w/all the features and quality of Fujitsu S6210 you won't find anything better than these machines. Hope this helps...[8D]
    Cheers.
