    Hi

I bought a S6210 Fujitsu Asia Pacific model last March (1.5 GHz, 512MB RAM (2 x 256), 60GB HDD). Grateful if someone could answer a few basic technical queries.

    1. In the Hard Drive propeties, it shows as 55.88GB capacity. Is it normal?

    2. What are the specs of the memory I need when upgrading (DDR 333 so-DIMM, 200 pin SDRAM)? Do you recommend a particular brand / model no.? I would like to remove one of the 256 and replace with a 512 or 1MB chip.

    3. Could you please recommend manufacturers who make HDD compatible with the S6210? I am looking to upgrade to a faster 60 or 80GB HDD. Again, what are the techincal specs I need to look for? (Not sure if laptop HDD are different to desktop pc's. Sorry!)

    Thanks for your help.

    1) Yes, there's a second partition that probably makes up the rest of the space.

    2) I like Crucial, mainly because it's cost effective and reliable. You can go with whichever brand you like.

    3) Your only choice is the Hitachi 7k60 2.5" drive, but it will accept any 2.5" drive.

My Harddrive also says 55.8 GB. I bought a fresh Hitachi 7k60 and installed it myself. Then installed a fresh copy of XP Pro. There is only 1 partition. Could the discrepancy be due to the fact that 1 Kb is viewed as 1000 bytes vs. 1024 (2^10) bytes?.
