    Hi,

I just ordered a 6210 from portableone today. Given 2 options: one with Dothan 1.7Ghz for $1779, the other with super drive for $1709, everything else are same. I chose the one with super drive simply because I don't know what benefit Dothan brings. Can somebody share your opinion with me? So I feel more confident about my choice.

Very few people really need the power that Dothan promises. I would recommend almost everyone make the decision you made.

I think you made a great choice. The Dothan is very overpriced at this point for most people. You will still have a fast machine, and will now be able to burn DVD's. Plus it was $70 cheaper. Sounds like a no brainer to me...[ :)].

Most times I've found that you get more bang for your buck by adding RAM or going with a faster drive, than upgrading the processor (when it is a slight gain...e.g. 1.6 gHz to 1.7 or 1.8).

When there is a major difference, like a G3 vs. G4 in the Powerbooks, you go with the processor.
