    Hi...!
Some weeks ago I came to this forum to ask some opinions on Fujitsu notebooks, and after some times browsing on the net, including feeling envy for US residents who get quite much lower price and more flexible "build to order" configuration compared to Asia-Pacific/Australia region, finally, this afternoon, I got my Fujitsu S6130. Centrino 1.4, 2x 256MB DDR 333 (additional memory I use Kingston), 40GB, DVD-CD RW, 2USB, IrDA, WIFI 802.11 b, RJ45, RJ11.. what else? Ah ya.. Intel 855GME, and Port Replicator..!
(I never thought they'll include the port replicator in the package)
I should have had checked deeper about this model, cos I haven't found one review yet, but it was just so tempting, based on the specification, and my budget. So, even if this is a little bit too late, I will appreciate any review/opinion on this model. Is this an upgrade model of S6120? (With no CV as what I read come with S6210)
Other thing is... I plan to divide the 40GB HDD into 2 partitions. I used FDisk to make the partition and now I am formatting my Beauty. My question is: Will Fujitsu Recovery disc overwrite the partition I have created?
I wonder and concern, cos some years ago, I had problem with my Compaq Presario laptop. I had made partitions on the HDD but when I ran the Quick Restore CD, it automatically overwrote the partition I made and replaced it with Compaq std partition, which I disliked so much..!

Ops.. been a long post... Your answer/opinions/advises are most welcome..!

Fujitsu uses various numbering schemes in different markets, so the one you got may be a mild upgrade over the S6120, but it's not the new S6210. As for the restore, it's my understanding that the restore CD will reset your machine the way it came off the line. So yes, I think it would kill your partition. Can anyone else confirm this or correct me?

don't think the the restore cd would kill a partition - unless part of its restoration routine is to delete existing partitions, THEN restore. i've never seen a restore cd that does that, anyway. think the restore cd would simply restore to the same partition it was on originally - the c: - regardless of however many other partitions exist. this would become a problem if that original partition wasn't big enough anymore to hold the original configuration (because the user made it smaller). unless this is the case, don't think i'd worry about losing the other partitions.
The way I see it, if you're savvy enough to know how to put partitions to good use, then you're savvy enough to know you don't need a recovery cd.

Thanks for the replies [ :)]
Confirmed that Fujitsu Recv.Disc S6130 doesn't kill the partition I created. I m happy..! Well.. I created 2 partition (C and D drive) to separate system/application files and data, so in case I need to format my C drive, my data will still be safe in the D drive (I do hope I will not need to re-format and re-install again though).

Maybe S6130 is upgraded version (slightly) of S6120 and for the Asia-Pacific rim region only. It comes with Gigabit instead of 10/100 in S6120, but I don't know other changes.

Hmm..I think I still need the recovery CD as it is needed to re-install the XP Pro and the drivers (with recv. CD companion) - simplier than browsing the net to download the drivers, but..

I just noticed this problem: the modem won't dial [V]. When I tried to do the dial-up, this message always appeard: "No dial tone. Make sure that your modem is not in use or installed properly blah blah..", where actually, there was tone, but the modem just didn't dial.
(I m writing this using my old PC)
What do you think is happening, and what should I do?
    Thanks alot...

    Hi again..!
Modem problem is solved [ :)].
It appears that I input the wrong data in the hardware configuration (setting for Australia region while now I m still in Jakarta, which means the setting should be Indonesia region) [:I]

I suppose I was just too excited I was careless. Now I m writing this from my S6130 [ :)][^]

    Hi Eur,
Indeed what you've got is a mild upgrade of S6120, but not the new 6210. But you've got a great machine since you have some features that new S6210 doesn't. For ex, IrDA, Gigabit, and port replicator, that, I don't know why, Fujitsu took off S6210. You've a great machine, enjoy it!!!
    Cheers,

    Cheers!

Yes.. It's just slightly different with the S6120 [ :)]
I am just happy to have this machine, although I still wonder why there is big difference in the price (Asia-Pacific-Australia VS USA/CAN ). [ :)] [8D]

S6210 Asia Pacific Version comes with IrDA, 802.11 g, and Gigabit.. I don't know which region your machine is from. Check this AP website: http://www.pc-ap.fujitsu.com/products/lb_s6210.html#
