Hello everyone. I am looking for a new notebook and the fujitsu S6210 was recommended to me. My main needs are potability, wireless ability, battery life. I will not be using the machine for gaming or heavy duty apps, some photoshop or digital photography but that's it.

I was wondering if someone can answer a few questions for me?

    1. Integrated graphics. Outside of gaming and video editing is there any reason to avoid this? I was told never to get integrated graphics, but not told why. Am I missing something? With my limited needs I'm assuming this won't be a problem.

    2. I'm also curious about the durability of the machines. I am unfamiliar with fujitsu. Could someone give me their overall impressions on the build and durability of the S6210 and fujitsu in general?

    And one general computing question:

    3. I was told that the cd burning option is slower in a Super drive as oppose to a DVD/CD-RW. Is this true?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Integrated graphics wont hurt anything else/

I have the S6210 and it is great. IBM and Fujitsu are considered to be the top two brand for quality and reliability.

Unsure. The Combo drives has 24x speed which is the norm for laptops.

    I ordered from www.portableone.com

They can make upgrades for you.

If you are a student, there is a 5% discount you could ask about.

    Anymore questions?

Thanks for the reply. The S6210 seems perfect for me needs. I'm not a student, but a freelance writer. Since this is tied into my livelyhood I was a little apprehensive about a company I knew nothing about.

However going back through the posts people seem overwhelming pleased with the computer and fujitsu.

Do you know anything about fujitsu's release cycle? I'm assuming no updates are due (which could lead to price drops for older models)?

The S6210 just came out 90 days ago. This came with the first generation pentium m processor. Now within the last few weeks they released the laptop with the faster, more expensive second generation pentium m. I would say it will be a while until they release a new model. The older model is called the S6120 which is confusing since the numbers are so similar.

    I don't see how 12 and 21 are similar. I never pay $21 for a $12 item.

A lot of people just can the numbers 6210 and 6120 and transpose the middle numbers. I know I did that when I first started looking at Fujitsu and saw 6210 and 6120 mentioned in the same post.

Thanks for answering my questions. It's appreciated. I think all that is left is to buy the machine and wait...

Waiting is tough. Let us know what you think of it when you get it.
