Should my amilo 1405 be able to power up without the battery in the back but still connected to the mains?

I think I got a problem with the battery because my lappy only powers up when it wants to..works fine for a week or two then refuses to start..no lights on!!

I noticed that the last time it did it was when it went into hibernate and I had to wait till the battery was totally exhausted before it would restart with AC power (then the battery recharged)

    cheers

Yep your laptop will work without the battery. Just make sure you don't accidentally remove the AC power cord when you have it plugged in and you shouldn't have any worries.

Hmmm...are you under warranty? You might want to give Fujitsu a call. :(
