When checking the P1 site, the N3510 had a set of RCA inputs as well as SVid, that were not included on the model without the tuner (according to the pic) Is the 6010 with tuner the same way? Could anyone post pics if so? I found some pics on this thread www.notebookreview.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9050
but none of the ports are in the photos, also what does the LED Display on the laptop between the volume and the power button indicate??

    Thanks for any info

The LED displays a number from 0 to 15 and is one of the volume controls. See this site for pictures of the N6010: http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=54942&highlight=n6010

OK, so that link answered my question (and a couple I didn't ask :)) but now I have another, where/how does the Coax hook up? Or is this not really a tuner but rather a mere Video capture device? Also I swear the display looks like its brighter than the CRT display I have for my desktop :)

There is in fact an adaptor that comes with the tuner. It has a 1/8 plug on one end, and coax on the other, It also doubles as an antenna, although not to well.[ ;)]

Cool, thanks for all the info, Almost all of my questions have been answered and then some :) I've now cancelled my order for the CTO HP ZD8000 and will be purchasing the N6010 in its stead. Now I just need to wait on my account to be credited back (there should be a law against charging for items before they are shipped) At least portable one accepts PayPal, so all the hassle I went thru with my bank and HP won't be an issue. (Actually the hassle was all with HP, a simple visit to the bank was handled same day, and I had to go to make a deposit anyways) The only question that remains is Linux Compatibility......

OOOOOh Doug, Linux. How good are you? I am complete novice in Linux so bear that in mind. Installing Libranet 2.8.1 was easy. Getting ATI drivers and wireless working was a PAIN. Lots of time (weeks) spent on those two issues. The solutions are out there, and if you are an exerienced linux user they should be easy for you to implement.

provided the devices are all supported or there is a workaround, there shouldn't be a problem. The Sound card may be an issue, as I don't recognize the sigmatel name. Tuner may or may not work at all, card reader and modem may be difficult to impossible to get working.

I don't think sound will be a problem. I don't know what chipset they use on the 6010. N5010 had an sis chpset that's supported. The items not supported out of the box w/ Libranet 2.8.1 (a really good debian distro) are the modem, wireless and video card. Oh, and you will need to edit your XFconfig file to use touchpad and external mouse. I have heard of workarounds for winmodems, but haven't tried any. There are madwifi driver for the atheros card, but I don't have it configured right yet. You can get the ati drivers off their site. Have fun. I would never boot back to windoze if I didn't want to play a few games. You might try the Kanotix live cd which can be installed to the HDD, unless you already have a distro of choice. I hear it's really good at detecting most hardware, including modems and wireless.

Well, I haven't used a modem in close to 3 years now, so I'm not too concerned if this doesn't work. Wireless is usually pretty easy to get working, as networking devices are usually a must-have device, so when Manufacturers do not provide drivers, these are usually pretty easy to come across. I already have the ATI drivers downloaded, however commercial Distro's often include proprietary drivers in the box, so this sometimes helps as well. I've never heard of Kanotix before, I have used both Knoppix and MandrakeMove before, both being quite good, however between the two I think Knoppix is better.
