    Hi

I'm on my second Lifebook S6120 but this one has better spec - anyway everything works fine but there's no sound

Even when I go to the volume control it will not let me turn it up as it is shaded. In device manager it says that the sound device is working but no sound

Any ideas? will I have to restore using the CD's? and finaly will the CD that came with one model of 6120 work with another?

    Cheers for any help

Are you sure it's not muted?

Then it really sounds like a hardware problem. I'd call support and talk about your repair options.
