Hey Brian... Just had an interesting talk with someone we both know. I was ready to order the P5020D and he told me I may want to hold off until the end of this month. Fujitsu is going to roll out an updated version of the P Series. He told me it was completely confidential and couldn't even give me model numbers yet. He also said to watch the Fujitsu website and when it shows up, check back to their sight for a purchase. Do you know anything about this new model? I'm definitely willing to hold out if it falls in the same price range as the P5020D. Love to hear your thoughts....

Oh great! [B)]I hate that. It's exactly why I took 10 years to buy another laptop. And am still running a six-year-old G3! Hate it, hate it, hate it! [ :(!][xx(][V][ :(][:0][xx(][V][)][)][)]

Someone we both know? I don't know you so you could only be talking about Ivan at LI. Anyway, I would find it odd for Fujitsu to offer a major upgrade at this point, but they might feel like they have to keep up with Sony. We'll see...I don't have any information to confirm this.

Any speculations* on what this new P-series might be like? ie. where it will fall in the P-series line up, will it be something like an updated 5020, or 2120; features that might be included on a mid-2004 introduction date model, etc.

Hopefully the new model will have a DVD-R/RW. Does anyone know why the T-70G which to me look the same as the P5020 has a DVD-R/RW and the P5020 not ? I am going to Malaysia on a holiday and hope to be able to get a P5020 with DVD-R/RW. Is it possible to order/upgrade it to DVD-R/RW ?

It's just the way of the world...electonics happen faster in Asia, so they get upgrades before we do.. Yes, the 5020 can be upgraded with a DVD burner.

Talked with P1 and they said the new P will be announced end of April, shipments in May. It sounds like to me it's basically the T70.

    - .35 lbs lighter
    - .15" thinner
    - DVD R/W

Some other rumors i read also say
    - 100MHz faster CPU
    - better screen (did the T70G have a better screen than the P5020?)

I was browsing fujitsu notebooks at a local store and the salesperson mentioned the same thing that if I wasn't looking to buy right now I should check back in about 2 weeks.
