A new series is here. The A3040

This is a desktop replacement. And the cheapest Fujitsu to date, starting at $999.
Got a powerful 2GHz Turion 64bit under the hood, that would really run fast!
Unfortunately nothing much for gfx, only a Xpress 200M.

*** Also available at Portable One, with free DVDRW DL upgrade.

When is a good major brand gonna pair the Turion, a good GPU, a big battery and a high resolution screen? I think they'd sell a ton. I'd certianly be interested if I were in the market. Also, only 4200RPM offered on Fujitsu's site, Boo!

Not good at all! 15" screen, integrated graphics and 4 cell battery and it weighs 7.48lb!!! There are 17" screen models with much better specs and weigh te same. Hopefully the added weight might mean better build quality. Other than this, nothing special about the A3040.

Nice find, we've known about this one but weren't supposed to post until the official release came out, which it hasn't yet, LOL. Oh well, there you go, we'll have something on this in the news section later today.

I think it's uncool to pair new processor with yesterday generation components. The least they can do is to use a DDR2 ram and 5400rpm HD. DDR2 doesn't cost more, it actually cost less!!!

Cool ... So my random visit to Fujitsu's site was right on time :D.

I hope that that low price doesn't mean inferior build quality. But Turions sure are costing much less these days. And I guess will only be getting lower to combat Intel's new releases. At least until sometime this summer!

@phidik: Turion platforms don't support DDR2, not that any AMD product (desktop/laptop) does. As for the HDD, you are right it's about time 5.4K becomes the standard!
