    Hiyas,

My battery is going crazy! Ok, so I got my N6210 only 2 weeks ago, so everything's brand new. Well, Friday night I had my laptop on at night, on AC with the battery in, if the battery was uncharged to start it got charged, and it was fully charged when I turned the laptop off and took it away from AC. Saturday morning, battery was at 87%. So I thought, who knows, and last night, I made SURE that the battery was all charged when I turned the computer off and took it away from AC. This morning, same thing - 88% charged. I don't know whether or not it was doing that before. What is going on???

Also, is there a way to prevent the battery from charging while it's on AC? I don't want to wear out the battery, and I can't take it out while the laptop is on because it's also the laptop's foot, so it would be uneven without it. (i.e. it doesn't go inside the case, it's a part of the case and it has foot attached.) Also, it'd be kind of weird to carry around the laptop with a hole on one of the sides. If anyone knows, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Same thing happens for me. If I leave it unplugged for 3 or 4 days it becomes almost completely drained. I have come to a conclusion. The speakers are always powered. If I put my ear on the subwoofer I can hear a hiss even when switched off, remove the battery and the hiss is gone. So it's not a fault on your unit only.

There is no way to prevent charging while the battery is installed. So ya if you constantly unplug your notebook for a while before plugging it again you are running thru recharge cycles.

I leave mine plugged in all the time (battery stops charging at 100% and never loses power after that, so no recharge cycles), so I never cared to poke around any further concerning this issue.

Only suggestion I have, is remove the battery when you have it unplugged, that way nothing will drain it (since the problem is with the notebook not with the battery), at least not at the fast rate you have now.

Huh, that's really odd. I'd think a BIOS update could fix that.

Yup, thats the same with mine N3510. The problem has already been reported and i remember some user from here emailed Fujitsu about it but have yet to recieve a reply from them. Although the N3510 doesnt have the subwoofer, i do hear the hiss, i just take out the battery when im not using the notebook.

Qwester, thanks, taking the battery out now. Can't really leave it plugged in when I'm not using it since it doesn't yet have a permanent spot. (I bought the table, but I have a whole bunch of stuff in the corner earmarked for the table that I need to go through to make space, so I'm now using a side table in the middle of the room when I'm using it.)

Brian, where would a BIOS upgrade come from? If one was available, wouldn't it just come with it installed... Since this problem has been around for a while, I think that means Fujitsu didn't address it when they were doing a refresh, and they don't think it's that big a deal.
