I'm thinking of getting a Fujitsu N3510 (sold my M40, just didn't like it) next month but I'm not sure because of its Mobility Radeon X300 graphics. The Sony FS5xx series is getting a free graphics upgrade soon (128MB GeForce Go 6200 or 6600, yet to be confirmed), and the possibility of Fujitsu going with the X600 or X700 is defintely there. Any chances of this happening? If Fujitsu decides to stick with the X300 for the N3510, I'd have no second thoughts of getting the laptop. Well, just don't want to feel ripped off. :)

how about the E8020D from Fujitsu.. currently i'm comparing this and the N3510 to see which suits my need.. the E8020D is slightly ligher (7lbs vs 7.6), has a 15' glossy screen vs a 15.4, but it has the option for an X600 with 64mb ram. it's also cheaper

An upgrade will most probably happen but not anytime soon. Unlike sony, fujitsu don't do a refresh every other month, and the N3510 has only been out since march. So I wont expect anything in the next month or 2. I would say the earliest time to expect an upgrade is late summer at the earliest. Fujitsu has quite a few other upgrades for other models lined up and will take precedence to that of the N3510.

I would also suggest the new E8020 that Goren suggested. That seems to be a nice machine. and should start shipping early next month.

In my opinion, i highly doubt Fujitsu will do a grahpics upgrade alone to the N3510. Most likely there will be a new model (e.g. N3520) if new components come out for the notebook market, e.g. new CPU and GPU. I doubt any upgrades for the rest of the year but of course i can be wrong.

Sort of. Fujitsu doesnt seem to update their notebooks until a new breed of CPUs come out. Theres going to be one new 2.26GHz chip out in July, but thats just purely increase in speed and would bring up the cost of the N3510 too much. I dont see a new model until at least Q1 2006 when most likely dual cores are coming.

Sorry for the late reply. Somehow notebookreview.com stopped working for me. Luckily everything's back to normal now. :)

After a long time of thinking, yeah, as I said, I'd wait. If Sony decides to go with a 128MB video card for the FS640, I might as well get that when it comes out (May-Sept). Especially with the slew of next generation games I'm interested in playing, the 64MB X300 just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

    edit: Typo. [xx(]

But seriously, im not sure what graphics card Sony will update to, but an upgrade to a 128mb GeForce 6200 wouldnt really increase performance by that much? I might be wrong but i think the 6200 is not that good. If they are upgrading to the 6600 then its worth considering.
