i looking at a friends N3510 and the Problems is when you boot into Windows xp it sometimes goes to a white screen.. you can tell if it's going to happen because the boot screen will have little dotted lines running downwards.. the Bios Screen look perfect even when loading into Bio setting... when the White screen was happpening all the time I was able to boot into safe mode, where just the dotted line were there but no white Screen.. the only Video Drivers I can find are from 2004? Any Help would be Great Thanks

I have a N3511 and I had the exact same thing happened to me with the dotted lines and white screen. I'm sure it's not an issue with the LCD screen itself but the ATi video chipset, since output via the VGA port is also affected.

Mine's out of warranty, so I took the chance to take the thing apart to check on the internals, in case the chipset was overheating. I cleaned the fan, replaced the stock thermal pads with Tuniq TX-2 that I had lying around from my last desktop build, but the problem persisted.

So at this point I'm out of luck. I saw replacement boards being sold online anywhere from $170-$500. I'm not sure what I should believe and whether those are scams, so for me at least it's time to shop for a new laptop. The N3511 was getting a bit too slow for me anyway. ;)

In the meantime I'm using the N3511 harddrive in an external casing for portable use. :D

Doing a search it appears other users have experienced it, such as ChaosBlizzard:

That sounds like the board to me. There's probably two options. If you can find a board for $170, that's less than a new notebook. Your other option would be to sell it for parts and apply those funds toward a new machine.
