I have got a LifeBook C series (about 3 years old) and when i plug the AC power adapter into the computer, the battery indicator on the front will display that the battery is being charged. This will go on for about 5 min. and then the battery will stop charging. (i have tried on several different opperating plugs)The laptop runs fine with 5 min of charge, but only for that amount of time. The laptop, once the power goes out, will not accept any charging for atleast a few min after everything has been unplugged. I would hate to throw it away because i can't get power to it. Any suggestions? PLEASE HELP! noone wants to see a Fujitsu go to waist..

Well it is a three year old notebook. And if you run off the battery often, the battery might have simply reached the end of its life cycle and you might need a new one.

One thing that you can try, clean the contacts on the battery and the socket where it plugs in. Accumulation of dirt might prevent adequate recharging.

I had a warrenty on the laptop, and the battery is only about 1 year old. The AC adapter may be older. I read online that the adapter may be shorting out thats why it's only charging for such a little amount of time

    Happened to my Sony notebook.
In my case, it was the charging unit on the mother board that was bad. Luckily my Sony notebook have 2 slots of battery, so I just switched place.
Sony tech said that the mobo had to be replaced. I ended selling it because warranty already expired.

And like you said "noone wants to see a Fujitsu go to waist..", I certainly don't want anything goes to my waist. :D Once it goes to the waist, diet and exercise alone won't fix it.

Ha phidik, you are so :D English is not my native language, but this sounds so :D.

The problem is not funny of course. And I would change the batt.

    Cheers,

i honestly don't think that it is the battery. I think this because the battery is more than willing to charge. As a matter of fact, the batter does charge correctly. The problem is, is that when it is plugged into the wall, it will charge and operate perfectly well, until about after 5 min or so and all of a sudden it doesn't recognise it has a plug in it anymore and askes to be plugged into a power source. If i unplug the AC power adapter and wait a few min, i can plug it back in and it will resume charging. Thank You

And by doing that 5min cycles you can charge it to 100% and then if you are using the batt it normally drains?

If it is so, then it is some problem with the charging circuits onboard. It is my guess of course.

can your onboard charging circuit be repaired/cleaned. As you may know, i am despirate.

Oh, and thank you for the site on voltage depression. I don't think that is the case because the laptop won't stay running even with the power cord plugged in.

If you go to the service, they would try to fix it, but unfortunately I heard too many stories of motherboards changed (and charged a big deal of course).

    I wish you luck,

Take the battery out of the laptop. Plug in the adapter. and turn the computer on. Is the computer able to run with just the adapter plugged in? If so the adapter is probably fine and the battery has gone south.

Another step that you can take is to unplug the adapter and remove the battery. Then, press the power button on the notebook for a couple of minutes. Once completed, insert the battery and power adapter and boot up the computer. Does the battery still charge for five minutes? If so, the battery is probably bad.

    Hope this helps......

the laptop does not work without the batter in it. and after taking out the battery and holding down the power button for a while did not make it charge longer at all. I think it's the adapter shorting out every 5 min or so, but i don't know. Is there some wireing i could do to allow it to run past the battery so i could just run it solely on AC power?

Well here, i just did an expironment. With the adapter plugged into the wall and into the computer, the laptop charged just fine. When it stopped charging, i unplugged the cord from the laptop only and let it sit for about 7 min. When i plugged the power cord back into the laptop nothing happens. This time i unplugged the power cord from the wall and waited about 7 min then plugged the cord back into the wall and the laptop returned to charging. Any IDeas?
