I currently have and use a ThinkPad X40 but my wife wants a touchpad, is a writer, needs a lightweight, non-widescreen, and I have narrowed my search for her lightweight to a Fujitsu S2000 or S6000 series. Since I cannot actually touch and see the Fujitsu keyboard, can anyone weigh in on the keys, size, placement, feel, vs the ThinkPad/Lenovo as a measure of full size, etc. keyboards?

Well, it's hard to move off an IBM keyboard. The S isn't that bad though, definitely above average in my view.

Can you be a bit more specific? Key size and positioning about the same as ThinkPad? I am less worried about key placement (home, return, etc.) For instance, the S2000 is listed as 100% pitch for the keys and the S6000 at 19mm pitch. I assume that 100% is full size (like the ThinkPad) and 19mm is not?

i have an s7020d and my GF has a T42. I think its almost personal taste. The s7020 is less precise and less effort. With the t42 it is louder and slightly better layout. I personally don't like that my s7020d doesn't have dedicated end and home buttons but that's a minor complaint. On the whole I like her keyboard better but she likes mine... so go figure. My experience with an s6231 was limited but seemed comparable to my s7020
