I have a strange problem and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

The JPEG and GIF images are displayed all strange my notebook. They are blurry around the edges and a lot of images are pixeled (I can see small squares 2x2mm), they are not smooth. Also film playback is no good. It's also blurry around objects, like the JPEGs. The realy strange thing, for me, is that BMP images are perfect.

So what would cause JPEG images to be strange and BMP images to be perfect?

The same JPEG that is pixeled on my laptop is smooth on another computer.

    Any ideas?

    My notebook specs are:
    Amilo M 1425
    P-M Dothan 1.6
Ati Radeon 9700 128 MB (Fujitsu driver found on CD)
    DirectX 9.0c
    Windows XP Pro SP2

By the way, I have also tried the Omega driver, same thing.

If you're moving pictures around from computer to notebook, or vise versa, data can get degraded sometimes, what kind of picture viewer program are you using? Have you tried opening the jpeg/gif in Paint (Start, Programs, Accessories, Paint) and re-saving it under a different name to see any change because that may help sometimes.

What more do I need for this thing?

I have the same problem with all JPEGs, also those on the Internet. Yesterday I created an image in Photoshop and saved it as BMP and the quality was ok. Then I saved it as JPEG and the quality was clearly worse. I also tried GIF but it was the same as JPEG.

Thanks for trying to help with my peculiar problem.

OK. The problem is solved [ :D], at last.
The problem was that I was using bluetooth to connect to my mobile phone which then connected to the internet, but I changed to ADSL and the problem was solved! So I started to investigate and soon found out that, in order to speed up the Internet connection the information (Jpegs, gifs, text, etc.) where compressed somewhere along the way and therefore the quality of the images was degraded.
