I apologize if this subject has been addressed previously but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Is everyone aware that Fujitsu are selling directly on Ebay.
Some of them are refurbs' but others are 'brand new' fully warrantied direct from Fujitsu themselves and not a private seller. I just purchased a S7010D with a retail of $1750 for $1250 !!! WoooHooo.
    Here's a link to their store - http://stores.ebay.com/Fujitsu-Computer-Store_W0QQssPageNameZl2QQtZkm

I was watching some of those auctions too, sounds like a good price for the P7010's.

I however am waiting till I get to Hong Kong and have a look at them there, I am in the market for an ultraportable and it looks like the Fujitsu is the one I want. If it doesn't work out over there I will probably buy one on ebay.

Good thing is that the seller has excellent FB score and percentage which should make the transaction goes very smooth.

Wonder how they could sell them so cheap. They have to make some money, don't they?

Uhh, it has 90 days warranty. I wouldn't risk that.

Yeah, they've been doing that for a while. Be careful though, someone posted here recently that they machine they got was different from the one described in the auction.

I remember that post, Brian. The person had misread the add. I believe it was for an S7000, and the seller posted the generic description that mentions how the series has crystal view screen option and put the product specifications in a small box below it. However, the actual product spec box didn't include the "CV" next to the screen description.

the seller is in Memphis and I think that is where the main fujitsu repair center is. These a "refurbs" which is not such a bad thing. Only think I would be conceerned with is dead pixels.

check out the new averatec models coming out this month both a 13 wide and 10.6 wide, they seem to be taking aim a fujitsu with these two models

You're right their main warehouse or HQ is in memphis. My laptop shipped direct from there.
BTW they're not all refurbs, sometimes there are phased out models.

Seriously, Averatec taking a shot at fujitsu. You cannot even compare the two. the spec numbers might be close, but the quality of the averatecs is so far of what fujitsu has to offer, you cannot even compare.

To me dell and averatec are in the same class when it comes to quality.

I would consider that Fujitsu's best competitor is Asus. They both have excellent build qualities. But I would still favor fujitsu for their screens.

I was the guy who got the S7010 without the CV screen through Fujitsu on eBay. Fujitsu agreed that the ad read that the unit included a CV screen and agreed to make it right for me - which they really did. They also agreed to change the description.

Overall, I was very happy with buying my S7010 through Fujitsu on eBay. At the time they were only selling new units via auction. They told me that this was merely overstock of slightly onder units with the P 735 or below. At the time they said they were pretty happy with the bids they were receiving.

My unit was eventually replaced because it didn't match the ad, but I would have been very happy with it it it was what I was expecting (is that clear?). In the end, Fujitsu went out of their way to make it right for me. Go for it.

WOW. I am really impressed that they did that for you! I'll grant you that their add was easily misinterpreted- what with the blurb talking about crystal view. What's interesting is that they haven't changed the way they list them. Hmmm....

They really took responcibility for the misleading ad. They were good to deal with. I just took a quick scan through their eBay store for the S7010's and the only mention of CV was for one of the ads to specifically say "Does not include Crystal View."
