This is in relation to my performance thread part II - I would like to use either of these laptops for some Photoshop work on the road, light video editing on the road, and some gaming - Warcraft, Rise of Nations, Halo.

The reviews here both are of older versions of these systems, Fujitsu s6120 and Sony Vaio 1ZVA.

How do these systems stack up and would anyone have an opinion of which of the 2 might be a better system for my needs?

I leave for Europe in one month so I want to buy one by July 1.

neither of these notebooks will be great for gaming, but for the games you mention they might serve acceptably...just get enough RAM. The Z1 has 16MB dedicated VRAM and the Fuji S has 64MB shared. Neither is great because they're both intended as portable business laptops.

Having said all this, I'd go with the Fujitsu S6200 simply because it has two benefits to the Z1. 1) The optical drive is ultra bay, meaning you can get a CDRW drive now and upgrade later to a DVD burner if you wish. With the Z1 what you buy is what you're stuck with. 2) The sony only has memory stick slots, the Fuji has memory stick and SD card reader included.

The Fuji also now has crystal view for a brighter non-glare screen, the one i tested didn't have this so i can't comment much on its benefits, but i can tell you the z1 screen was just so-so and i'd imagine the new screen fujitsu has put in beats what the z1 has.
