Anyone has experience with refurbished notebook from fujitsu?
I notice that they only provide 90 day warrenty?
I'm not sure whether or not I should spend ~$1500 on a refurbished notebook.

I'm not sure how the quality is for the refurb'd units you were looking at, but they're usually pretty good. Units that are returned by customers because of one reason or another, is checked and repaired is needed and sold as refurb. So, it's possible to get a refurb'd unit that has only been used once.

Usually when I see that a warranty is only 90days, they're usually being sold by a company and not the manufacturer, that just sells refurb'd computers. They sell the discontinued notebooks, or the ones that come off leases. These type of notebooks I personally would not trust. If purchased directly from the manufacturer, they usually offer a full warranty (from what I've seen).

If you're gonna spend $1500, I'd recommend getting a brand new notebook. You can get a bunch that will be WAY more feature loaded than a Fujitsu.

I'd recommend you checkout the below notebooks, I believe they will all fit your price range.

    Acer Aspire 2012WLMi
    eMachines M68xx Series
    HP ZT3000/ZX5000/ZV5000 Series
    Compaq X1000/R3000 Series

Depending on what your requires are, I'm sure one of these notebooks will do it for you. The Acer is my best pick, it has everything you're gonna need at a very reasonable price.

Hmmm...That's interesting. You're right, most manufacturers sell their refurb'd notebooks with a 1 year warranty, but those are usually customer returns (didn't like, or minor problems). Fujitsu may be selling the off lease products. These units are used by companies for their lease period and then returned. I guess these can't be sold with full warranties since these would be "really used" systems. I can't be certain, but for only a 90day warranty and for $1500, I'd go and get a brand new HP or Acer.

I don't suggest getting a refurblished n/b for that kind of money, especially from fujitsu. I just read the september issue of MobilePC(pg 22). fujitsu have no return policy on refurblished n/b. Here are the list for refurblished notebook policy
    Company Warranty Return Policy
    Apple 1yr 10days
    Dell 90days/upgrable 14days
    Fujitsu 90days none
    Gateway 90days/upgrable 15days
    HP 90days/upgrable 30days
IBM 3months 7days 1yr warranty on specific model
    Sony 90days 30days
    Toshiba 90days 15days

The notebook I'm looking into..is being sold directly by the manufacturer. Unfortunately all the refurbished notebook is given a 90 days warranty from fujitsu.com. It seems a little odd because most manufacturers gives 1 year warranty on thier refurbished product such as HP/Dell/IBM. Any thoughts on this?

You're absolutely right, 90 days with no return policy on refurbished notebook by fujitsu.
Further, new notebooks cannot be return if they are custom ordered. Another words, you may return those with preconfigured machines listed on thier website within 14 days. If you change an option .(eg. bigger hard drive) then it CANNOT be returned...BAD!

these prices suck. The cheapest S7010 config list at $1499 and they are offerina refurb for $1350. That's ony 10% you should expect %25 off for a refurb. You can get the same item at newegg.com for $14,09 + $4.00 for shipping.

I had purchased a refurbished one and realized it was making some rattling noise. I returned it without any problems. Later purchased another refurbished one with absolutely no signature of previous use. I'd recommend buying a refurbished but not at this price range. Check for XP Pro or other extras; they make a huge increase in price. I got mine for less than a 1000. There used to be an extra 100 off from outlet store as well...

I used to be a laptop technician at a local store who gave service to and sold fujitsu laptops. From what i experienced, refurb. fujitsu laptops were quite bad; especially the S and P series. Usually after a few weeks the customer purchased they would come back for all kind of issues with the laptop, usually like light is on but won't book or auto shut down after few mins. At times, i even saw copied driver and application CDs not original in the package! Unless you're getting an excellent deal, otherwise i'd sugguest you to pay a little extra to go for a brand new one.

Havn't been here in a while with Katrina and everything. As far as the Fujitsu refurbs, you need to check the site everyday until you hit a good price point. I'm posting this on my "refurbed" S6210 I purchased from Fujitsu around seven months ago. The unit arrived and I swear it was brand new. It was loaded with all the bells and whistles and came with the sealed orginal disks and owner's manuals. I also purchased a T series and ST series from them and they are perfect. I paid $720 for the S6210, $399 for the ST4110 and $599 for the T series one. I've also purchased several for friends and all but one looked brand new. The one that didn't was in otherwise excellent condition with a small scuff on the bottom. I use my S6210 around 8-12 hours a day and have had no problems.

hey guys, i actually bought a refurbished s7010d a few months ago and have loved it so far. i don't know....from what i am hearing it almost sounds like i got lucky with mine. i bought mine from a guy that lives close to where the Fujitsu factory is and he buys them refurbished. I paid $1000 for an

s7010d: 1.6ghz, 768mb ram, 60gig hard drive, cd/rw drive, atheros wireless, office professional, xp professional, crystal view screen.

at the time i got a great deal and so far i haven't had any problems although some of what other people have been saying is making me a little nervous.
