Need help in solving a power on problem. When I push the power on button with the ac adapter connected or with just the battery, I get nothing except the ac power and battery icon in the small lcd panel. There are no lights, even on the power on button, fans, or beeps. I have replaced the curcuit board that contains the power on micro switches and power adapter jack. I have removed the battery and ac adapter then pushed the power button in for about 40 seconds to drain the system of static. All still failed. I cannot get any signs of power anywhere. I haven't replaced the motherboard yet simply because I felt that I should get some sign of power even if it was bad. I may or may not be right in that thinking. I have also tried another power adapter of which failed. That pretty much my knowledge of what to try. Has anyone had this problem? I would greatly appreciate an answer to this problem....Thanks

Poorly seated RAM can cause the type of problem you describe with the computer starting but going nowehere. Take out the module(s) and replace them (one at a time, alternately, if you have two).

Thanks John. I have taken everything possible, reseated them and still nothing. The laptop doesn't do anything...does not light, beep or run fans. I have been advised that some laptops do no respond to power if the cmos battery is dead. Not sure except I know he knows more than me. If you can think of anything more, please advise.
