Without knowing your needs or budget, it's kind of hard to say. You may wish to fill out the FAQ and the WSIBN forum to get some recommendations.

    My budget is about 1500.
Need a laptop than can last more than 5 years.
    no gaming.
needs a lot of battery life but not than important though.
I dont really care about the looks of the laptops, just the reliability and preformance.

O yeah, does ddr 3 ram perform much better than ddr 2 rams for laptops?

I think you should fill out the FAQ and post there for better suggestions. I doubt it's huge one way or the other.

I just bought my notebook recently. E8420 is one of my wish list, however it is quite expensive -- I have bought A6210 in fact.
A6210 is similar to E8420, expect it is more heavy (2.97Kg) and with a lower screen resolution (1280 x 800).
The build of both notebook are ok when I saw them in roadshow, but the better point for A6210 is the blue buttons on top of the keyboard, make it quite stylish. E8420 just use some black LED ...... feel like it is quite "old"

Yea the black and white led feels old school. So I got the laptop now and its quick on xp. I have 1 gb ram so vista is a bit slow. Im waiting for the ddr3 price to fall.

The battery adapter is made in china which is dissapointing b/c I thought fujitsu was all japan made even adapter.

    screen with swxga is great.

It's only assembled in Japan. No computers are completely made in Japan. It's just not economical. As it is Fujitsus are highly priced because of the Assembled in Japan stamp.

On another note, how is the keyboard on the E8420. I've always found Fujitsu keyboards to have too much flex. Usable but quite annoying. Is the keyboard on the E8420 better?

The black monochrome display is there for a reason. This laptop is meant for business and business only and is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. Bright led indicators would be too distracting in a business environment.

Having said that, I too feel the overall design of the laptop is uninspired. I'm not a fan of the two tone black and white. Would rather have all black like Thinkpad or all white.

The keyboard is quite flexible compared to a macbook pro. The led is good for saving battery though. Are you going to get a fujitsu e8420?

    Question:

Can you upgrade fujitsu e8420's CPU? or hard drive?
