I have a Fujitsu Lifebook T1010. Last night, I used the included stylus to push on the screen and it shattered. I was not tapping, and I didn't really feel like I applied a lot of pressure. Is this a common problem?

Incidentally, I sent the computer back today for a replacement LCD. However, I was also told that the LCD is not covered by the warantee. I am hoping the company will do the right thing and replace what must have been a defective part at no cost to me.

If anyone else has encountered the shattering problem, I would like to hear from you.

I just got off the phone with Fujitsu. They claim that I intentionally damaged my unit and that I, therefore, must pay for the repair of what surely was a defective unit to begin with. DON'T BUY FUJITSU. They know nothing of customer service. I fell for it and it has cost me a lot of extra money.

    *sighs*

That's why they have a Screen Damage Protection Plan
"Accidental damage to a screen is not covered under our International Limited Warranty"
How do you know it was defective? I still do indeed question Fujitsu because they really need to fix their warranty/service plans. They're quite pricey which then many users don't opt for the screen protection plan.

Anyhow, it shouldn't cost you a lot of extra money. Head on over to "tabletpcreviews" rather than "notebookreviews". Go to the Fujitsu forum and ask the users as to how to go about replacing the screen. A user last year had their T2010 screen crack. They replaced it with $50 worth of acrylic. I think the glass was $200? It's not a difficult process.

How long ago did you purchase the laptop? Think your credit card can help you out here? Check it out.
