    Hi,

I have a Amilo Pro V2030 with a philips cdrw / dvdrom (bundled by the manufacturer). the laptop is out of warranty now. While i am able to read the cds and dvds (even though it is very slow to read), i am not successful with CD writing. Every time i write a cd (using nero 7 or the traditional windows option to burn files), it shows as cd burnt, but later when i check the cd is blank.

For info, i use win xp pro SP2. any help will be greatly appreciated. The component info is pasted below for info:

Maybe you want to try some different software as a place to start. CDBurnerXP is free and works well. Try deleting the ide drivers in the device manager. They will install when Windows is re-booted.

    Hi ZaZ,
Nice of you to reply to my post.
I tried both the options you providec - CDBurnderXP first... no luck.. Then i deleted both the Secondary IDE Devices in the Device manager and rebooted... no luck after this as well - still not able to burn cds properly.. same problem..

appreciate other inputs from you or other friends.

thank you once again and have a nice day.

You got the same thing in CDBurnerXP, it burned, but nothing showed? Perhaps try some different discs. Maybe the drive just went bad.
