    Hey there!

Never heard of M3438 nor of M4438, could you please post a pic or two and perhaps a link...

I own a FS Amilo M1420...I would not recommend that particular model. I bought it from the Emirates with a year's international warranty. I am in US now, and I think I may well have a faulty motherboard. I have contacted Fujitsu here, they were unable to provide me with any technical repairs, all the representative said in her charming voice was "You have a European model that we don't have parts for, we can send it over the ocean (either side :)) to get it fixed but you will need to bare the expenses"

Not too fancy about Amilos anymore :(

I would recommend Lifebooks anytime. They have a better built.

I know Amilos are well worth for the specs that they come with. Amilos are pretty big in Germany and UK.

Umm, I hope it was only I who suffered from a bad hardware, otherwise Amilo's reputation is not unheard of.

    Hope this helps

The AMILO M3438G & M4438G is a high performance desktop replacement with only true mobile components. The
elegant and slim design with an exceptional large 17” crystal view widescreen display (16:10 Format) makes the AMILO
M3438G & M4438G an excellent multimedia notebook. Furthermore is this product available with two display
resolutions: WXGA+ (1440x900) and the high definition resolution WUXGA (1920x1200), for amazingly sharp and
    detailed pictures.
Combined with outstanding graphics, GeForce Go 6800 and 256 MB video ram, this notebook will give you the best
available graphic performance for video streaming, etc. in an attractive package.
You get even more: InstantOn functionality and a build in remote control guarantee as much comfort as possible for
    you!
SATA and optional RAID technology with two separate hard discs provide the choice of highest security for your data
or for almost doubling the speed.

Is the Amilo M4438 available now? I've only read preview stuff on it... would love to know prices, and where it is available?
I'm in the UK, the Fujitsu-Siemens website has no mention of it![?]

OK I've been in contact with the very nice people at Fujitsu-Siemens's PR office and they tell me that the 4438 will not be available in the UK, but that the 3438 is available. Currently you can buy it from www.nice-pc.co.uk/amilo_m_laptops.html
Has anyone any first hand knowledge of this model? It looks well priced!

Now found out that this model will be reviewed for the August issue of What Laptop magazine. I shall look forward to the read. It looks on paper like it may just be the 17" screened laptop for me.

This is a very high quality product. Well built, excellent LCD (definetely excellent), very good gaming performance and it got the all looks with his elegant design. I have a chance to checked it in a notebookshop in Turkey.
GPU might be MXM as in exchangeable (in the future) and M3438G, M4438G might have the ability.(cant sure...)

I picked one up a couple weeks ago in Russia. The machine is wonderful, well built, sexy looking, excellent display (and I mean excellent!), powerful GPU, even comes with a remote. No complains so far. Blows away all notebooks I've had (and desktop for that matter)

Highly recommend, what a great machine.

It has good features and configuration but dont expect it to work. The hard disks are of low quality. I was not able to use my second hard drive. I had bought it in Dubai few days beofre and I got a complete replacement for my laptop. When I tried RAID toll on the new piece, it damaged the hard disk again.
