Have you tried any games on the 6231 yet? I am looking at getting one, and I don't play games often, but it might be nice to know what runs well.

I don't think its made for gaming, it has intel graphic. Its a great laptop for mobility, but poor for gaming. I haven't tried any games yet, but I assume it would be able to play old games, but not new. As far as productivity, its a great machine.

If it can play Rome, then it should handle anything that I'll ever throw at it. Thanks.

    One more question,

Does the screen glare bother you? I am stationed in Germany, and they really don't have a Best Buy around here. I have to rely on everyone else's reviews to help me choose. I have seen the new Toshiba Quosmio (sp?) screens, but I'm not really sure that I like them. They are bright, but soooo reflective.

    Any input is appreciated.

Regarding the reflectivity issue - I went to Fry's to try all the "bright screen" laptops, including Sony & HP, and the S6231 was the least reflective, IMO. It doesn't bother me at all.
The big plus for me with the 6231 is outdoor readability. Once in a while I like to do my work outside in my backyard, so this is a great feature. With the "outdoor/indoor" screen I can also use my S6231 to run moving map GPS and WXWORX software in my Piper Cherokee. The screen is nothing short of incredible.
I'm not a "gamer" - so I can't speak to that issue. I use MS FlightSim and X-Plane to practice instrument approaches, but I do that on my desktop.

I love the display. If glare is an issue, just changing the viewing angle solves most problems.

FYI, Rome Total War works pretty well on the lowest settings. I don't think most graphically intense new games will work all that well on this laptop.

Doom 3 didn't work very well.

Do you know if any of the following games will work well and on which graphic settings for the S6000 series laptop?

    Sims2
    Warcraft 3
    Counter-strike
    Counter-Strike Source
    SimCity 4000

I guess this kind of information would be good to know, since I'm hoping to eventually get my hands on one of these bad boys.

The screen doesn't bother me at all...however, the colors are not very even, especially around the edges. The colors seem alot whiter on all the edges and this bothers me quite a bit, especially when I'm watching a DVD....almost wish I had gone with the Sony...

You notice problems with white too? I have the same issue on my C2330!

These Fujitsu LCDs aren't really that great. They can't display white correctly. Come on now, it's the color white! How can you not distribute that correctly Fujitsu?

I am seriously considering sending this unit to P-One to get the LCD replaced.

Sims2 is notorious for its horrible high system requirements... I have it on my 6230 and it's just "ok." You'll get fustrated at times, but overall it does not affect the gameplay too terribly. Just don't ctrl+tab, or have someone IM you, anytime during the game and you'll be fine.
