I am thinking of buying this to replace my old N6210 (which was apparently made in China). Is this model, as well as other new Fujitsu's Made in Japan?

Just got an NH570 a few days ago; it says it was made in China on the label of the box it came in. Someone verify this for me.

But if that's deterring you from buying one, don't let it. I know 3 days isn't enough to judge a laptop, but as of now, it's great.

Until this thread, I thought that all Fujitsu (though not Fujitsu-Siemens) laptops were made in Japan. When I bought my E8210 four years ago, that was one of my considerations (not that everything produced in China is made shoddily; it just seems that the quality control there is more variable).

Does anyone know which if any Fujitsu laptops are still made in Japan? Or which are made in China or elsewhere?

Is there any way to get this info from Fujitsu before one buys the laptop and looks the "Made in" sticker?

    TIA.

Looked at many of the new Fujitsu laptops at the Fujitsu shop here in Taipei today. They don't make them like they used to in the past. In the past they were pretty solid when they were made in Japan. Now they all feel flimsy and very plastic like :(

That's sad. I guess the the question at this point is which brand/model(s), if any, are made well these days?

Some of the high end model ones that are sold in Asia are made in Japan but the majority of the cheaper ones and even some of the better ones are made in China via OEM :(

One thing for sure is that the Fujitsu laptops just don't feel like they used to feel. After the last P series I bought I said to myself that I would not buy one again unless the quality improved and it was made in Japan.

Is there any way to know in advance of purchase (when purchasing over the Internet and unable to check a "Made in ..." label) which models/series are made in Japan and which in China via an OEM?

No. Last time I bought my Fujitsu P8010 which stated it was made in Japan turned out to have parts made in China every where inside. When the sales rep took the laptop apart to install my SSD drive I saw nothing but China,Thailand and Taiwan parts on the inside. Only thing that was made in Japan was the sticker on the outside of the computer.

Most of the big Japanese companies now OEM their laptops in China. Not that all stuff made in China is bad. My Macbook Pro is made in China and it is very well built except for the fact that it scratches easily.
