    Hello there,

    I have got an Amilo M1420 wide-screen. Its a very poewrful machine for the price I bought it for!

    Looking at the specs you mentioned for the machines, besides the processor, the only 2 differences I see are the graphic card and the HDD storage capacity.

    Battery life :
    With websurfing and photoshop, my machine gives me app. 3 hours of battery life only. I am not sure about the athlon machnines, since I have never tried them.

    Graphic card:
    I am not quite sure if 9700 and 9600 are significantly different.

    HDD capacity:
    20 more GB on one side, which can always come in handy. But having a DVD-RW also means you can store most of your high capacity data on disks.

    Weight:
    If you are going to carry around your laptop, which I assume you will, then go for Amilo M, it is around .6 kgs lighter!

    Hope that helps for now,

    - Mohamed

    Amilo A must be better than M series when I looked your list carefully,but some M systems will be the best choice if you look this;

    AMILO M 1420;

    15,4 crystal bright view 1280*800 32
    80 gb 7200 hitachi
    9700 128 mb ati radeon
    4 * dvd dual

    I can easily play FARCRY with very high settings...in very high details 67 fbs is so huge number...and M series have more battery than A...

    to mohd_jafarali;

    9700 is %20 percent more powerful than 9600
    but you must know 9600 series have three different type.,
    1-9600
    2-9600 pro
    3-9600 pro turbo

    for first 9700 is %20
    for second 9700 is %12-15
    for third 9700 is %10-14 more powerful...
    I think if you bought an ati with 9600,you dont need to buy 9700...
