I am interested in the Fujitsu N5010, it comes with a 16" CV SXGA screen. I am unable to test drive the Fujistu before purchase, and the claim by a few reviews, and fujistu that the screen is stunning with CRT like images. I was wondering and hoping someone here has seen or used this computer to give me a little insight. How would you say it compares to the P15 toshiba, or the XBrite screens that come on some Sony models? Also any other insights on the N5010 would be much apprecieted.

    Thanks,

    Hill

One more thing. If you buy from Fujitsu they have a 15 day return policy, so if you hate it send it back. Other companies offer similar return policies. Check before you buy.

Yes...this is the ago old problem with buying notebooks from companies without extensive retail networks. Anyway, I haven't used that model extensively, but I did see it at a recent trade show. Also, I use the P5000 series. I enjoy their screens and consider them on the top end of the scale. Personally I don't like the Sony displays, I find them to be too reflective.

In my view it is. I've had my 5020 side-by-side a Sony TR2 and mine was much less reflective.

The Fujitsu P5020 screen has a thin anti-glare film on it. Others P5 owners have reported success in removing this film and getting what is essentially a Sony-like glossy screen. For me, as hot-looking as I am, I still don't want to be staring back at myself when trying to surf the net wirelessly! So, I like the non-glare aspect of the P5!

My cousin has the N5 and its gorgeous. Just as great looking as the XBRITE screens, if not better. Excellent viewing angle as well. You'll deal with glare, like you would with the XBRITE screens, but thats what you're going to have to deal with if you want a CRT-like display.

For screens (imo): Fujitsu > Sony > the rest

I have seen the N5010. It the display is outstanding; no question about that.

I wonder how it compares to the IBM Flexview display of the Thinkpads R50p and R51 which provides 170° horizontal and vertical viewing angles and is 25-50% brighter than standard UXGA TFT display?

    Does anyone know?

Seems we're talking about 2 different screens here - the one on the P5000 series, and the Crystal-View on the N5010.

My question is -- has anyone seen them side by side, or even seperately, who can comment on how they compare?

I like the idea of a screen that is less refelctive than the Sony XBRITE - which I hear the P-series is. What about the Crystal View? Is it reflective like the XBRITE? If I'm bothered by reflection, would I likely prefer the P's?

    My first post - thanks!

I recently took the plunge and ended up with a Fujistu N5010. I do have to say the screen is just amazing, and I did not find the screen to be too reflective for a glossy screen. But I would think if in general if you find glossy type screens too reflective then I would go with something in a matte screen. I cant compare it really with other screens, but so far at this juncture, I am very happy with my fujistu N5010 crystal display. However I dont use this computer in high level natural sunlight conditions.
