I use my laptop (A6025) in meetings for giving presentations and such, and when I'm finished I would prefer to put it into standby mode, but I usually don't because the mobo makes a somewhat loud double-beep beforehand. I've checked all the entries in the BIOS menu and can't find anything related to disabling the system beep. Any ideas??

    Hey all,

I've had the same thing with a Fujitsu LifeBook T4220 (Tablet PC) whenever I go into Standby or Hibernate in XP (oddly enough, Vista disables this), thus, I'm not sure if this will apply to your models:

EDIT: Confirmed, the T4220, Q2010, A6025 and all affected models using Phoenix BIOS has these options as listed below. :)

1.) Go into the BIOS (either by clicking the mouse or pressing the Enter key), then select BIOS.
2.) Navigate over to the "Advanced" tab.
3.) Navigate to the "Miscellaneous Configurations" tab.
4.) Navigate to the "Volume Setting:" portion.
5.) Press the spacebar or Enter key, then select anything BELOW "Middle". I, myself, set it at "Minimum" so that when I'm off to wherever I need to go, I can be reassured that my system is hibernating or sleeping by the confirmation sound (beeps) it produces. However, if you wish, you may set it at "Disabled" or "Off".
6.) Important: Once done, navigate over to the "Exit" tab, then select "Exit Saving Changes". Your system will reboot and continue booting into Windows.

Post-config: Check to confirm if there is any sound (if the system volume is disabled) being produced when you a.) start up Windows (with its start up sounds); and b.) when it goes into either hibernate of sleep mode.

Wow, I always thought, that its a volume setting, which also effects windows sound level, thats why I didnt change it! Works like a charm, thanks a lot!
