My problem is with processor speed. Using windows XP Home. Laptop has AMD Turion64 ML32 processor and speed should be 1800MHz but in control panel -> system it has only 800MHz. I quess it raises up when needed but I want to update this to Windows 8 and Windows8-UpgradeAssistant.exe doesn't go any further because says: "Speed is less than 1GHz and you can't install and use Windows 8".

This laptop has 2 x 1024Mb DDR RAM and that should be enough.
It has a new hard disk drive too, WDC WD3200, 320Gb, 284Gb free space at the moment.

Speccy and all other monitoring apps gives this:

    Rated Bus Speed 801.0 MHz
    Stock Core Speed 1800 MHz

How to raise speed up for good or cheat Windows8-UpgradeAssistant ???

Where can this laptop has new and better drivers for example for Wi-Fi. In Fujitsu sites is nothing and windows update has never gave any updates to hardware...

Please help and Thank You in advance

You could try setting power scheme to full power instead of balanced or power saving.
Check bios if there is possible to turn off cpu power saving features.
If those fail, install Throttlestop and choose full power profile, at least that should work.

Basically for updated drivers there isn't any better place than component manufacturer's support sites. If you are installing Win8 anyways there probably isn't newer driver for wlan than what comes in the box.

    HI KLF

Thank you for trying to help me...
In XP that kind of power feature don't exist.
In BIOS is no power saving options at all, this machine has newest BIOS anyway but there is no help for this matter.

I tried to look for "ThrottleStop" and what I learned it's for dual cores and so... mine has single core, Amilo A 1650G is released in 2005, old but very good for lighter use. I know that WIN 8 would be for this much better os. but this processor speed thing is strange.
This is typical thing in this laptop what I have seen in internet...

Drivers are not big thing... i guess that with W8 this would be better in soooo many ways....

There's always RMClock, I've used it on A1645G succesfully :) It has a bit more detailed options...

What else comes to mind... Try running some kind of stress test, pifast or similar, when computer specs are checked.

Now i have tried with "RightMark CPU Clock Utility", perhaps this is what you ment KLF ? Did not work...I did run some Pi test too, only thing happened was processor temperature rise to 70c and i stopped... same time watching from system properties if it has raised to 1800HMz, did not...

I did sent an email to M$ customer service and ask for help with online update, waiting for responce from there...

If someone know something to try with, I'm happy to hear more :)

I also tried and installed Win_8 pro on my old Amilo 1667G with turion MT-37/X700/1gb ram. It went well, I mean installing, but checked the speed of processor and it was only 800Mhz ( used few programs), all of them indicated me that speed.
The task manager shown the way it should be, from 800Mhz to 2000Mhz speed, up and down, the way it should work, but I rather incline to believe the CPU_Z, AIDA64 and HWinfo32, actual speed of 800Mhz.
I think you have the same motherboard as I have P50CA, I am not sure.
What i did, (with windows 7 installed), I updated to the latest Bios for this motherboard, 1.07, is not official, is released by ECS, and followed what the guys did here:
    Fujitsu Technology Solutions - Forum • View topic - [solved]Amilo A1667g and windows vista/seven
Even with 800Mhz Windows 8 worked very well.
I can not give up this laptop because of the volume button, it has a normal one, not press FN +.....to increase/decrease the volume...
BUT I went back to XP PRO, all other laptops I have are Win 7 and Win 8, is enough.
Conclusion, the Bios has to be updated by the manufacturer to support newer OS, but are 7 years old laptops and they say to get a new one, no more support for old once anymore :(
