xi1546 has subwoofer noise. Latest drivers from Realteks website fixes it. But as some say reduces the quality of the sound a bit because it makes the sub effectively act as a normal speaker, not a sub. But the noise is removed.

no, no real problems that i´ve had. The only critiques are that its a little loud and gets hot under your wrists (where the hd´s are i think) when you use it for a while.
other than that i´ve had no real issues- anyone else?

I will post my experiences here. The Xi1526 and Xi1546 look the same and the screen is the same. The screen is bright and very nice to work with.

The only difference is the videocard. The 7600Go is silent and does not get very hot and has a good battery life (2-2:30 without WLAN on, brightness lowest). The Xi1546 with the X1800 however gets more hot and is louder. And the battery life is much lower (1:45-2:00 without WLAN on, brightness lowest).

The X1800 performs twice better then the 7600Go. So it is all up to you.

Here is my review of the Xi1526 (3 pages and a lot of game reviews): Xi1526

And here is the review of the Xi1546: Xi1546

You may also consider the Xa1526 with is very cheap compared to the Xi1526 but looks much much better and it has a 64 bit processor. So your choise! Xa1526 small review by me.

    Good luck!

    well,tnx alot.
the main reason i why i decide to buy Xi1526 is intel and nvidia.
i had 3 deskop comuters and i i had 3 Intel processors and 3 nVidia card.so i don't have experience with AMD and ATI

Ok as far as I understand you are a architecture student. Nice profession by the way ;)

I prefer F&S over Sony, because Sony's are usually very overpriced. As I understand you are trying to choose between the Xa1526, the Xi1526 and the Xi1546.

    Pros Xa1526:

-Beautiful aluminium brush, looks wonderful (if looks are important to you)
    -Great screen
-2 hard drives that can run in RAID!

    Cons Xa1526:

    -Just 3 USB's for a 17"
-Turion processor is not as powerful as the Intel Core 2 Duo

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Pros Xi1526:

    - Great performance when configured with Intel Core 2 Duo
    - Also two hard drives
    - Combination Intel + nVidia is great

    Cons Xi1526:

    - Looks not that nice as the Xa1526
    - The 7600Go is powerful, but if you are doing really graphic demanding tasks you need an X1800

    -----------------------------------------------

    Pros Xi1546:

    -Very powerful videocard

    Cons Xi1546:

    -Runs hot
    -Short battery life

So the thing I need to know is: post the links of the 3 F&S notebooks you are looking at and I will try to give you a good advice. Also post the programs you will use.

im also an arch. student. coincidentally.
You dont need much to draft in AutoCAD or ArchiCAD. I think any of them will handle it ok.
MAX is another story. I have an xi1546, havent done much with it but its rendering in MAX and VIZ seems pretty slow. But I assumed it was my slow CPU, and that maybe MAX isnt optimised for core duo´s yet.
I´m not sure but i think rendering can be quite CPU intensive?? maybe a 64-bit CPU is better idea and a decent video card.

    Im running,

    X1800-latest omega drivers
    Core duo 1.63
    1GB RAM
    2x100 HD RAID 0

i know they will. But i don't now which one is going to work longer :)
because i want to buy some notebook wich can work few years. Because i'm over with spending money every 8 mounts on new PC.for example: today i bought a new graphic card for 2 mounts that card is old...so i'm finished with that :)
i was thinking to bought apple but then i realize there isn't AutoCAD for mac :(

The Xa and Xi are dual core processors and they you can work with them for about 3 years for sure. The Xa has 64 bit processor, which of course has better support for the feature. The dual hard drives with RAID functies assure great performance.

If you decide to select the 2 GB upgrade, you can be sure that you will have a Vista ready notebook.

No it surely isn't. Just go to http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com. Select download drivers.

Select notebook --> Amilo --> Xa-series --> Xa1526. After that select the typ of driver you want to download and choose Vista as Operating system. And voila, drivers for Vista.

Almost all the larger manufacturers are offering Windows Vista on their notebooks, and the newer Xi and Xa are being shipped with them I believe. Notebook Solutions will probaly have a better idea of the status of the operating system on the newer systems.

The Xa1526 that we have in stock are the pre-Vista models. Which means that you can upgrade to Vista using the Express Upgrade. It is possible that the new models have Vista shipped, but I am not sure about that.

Hmm, not really. I have Xa 1526 and it seems it doesn't have RAID Controller. There are no options in BIOS as well as the RAID configuration with F6.

But what bothers me is the Fujitsu-Siemens support where I found these files:

SATA RAID (on board) [MCP51/MCP55 SATA RAID Controller

    NVIDIA SATA Driver for VISTA32/ 64 Bit | 23.12.2006 | 0,2 MB
    Version: 8.24
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA
Status: Released for AMILO Xa 1526
Operating systems: Windows Vista x64, Windows Vista
    Language: English

    The package contains four files: nvraid.inf, nvraid.cat, nvraid.sys, nvstore.sys.

Is it somehow possible to setup RAID with these files, although there are no options in BIOS?
