    Hi Friends,

I have a Fujitsu Lifebook S710 (Win 7 Ultimate SP1) laptop with 4GB RAM 533Mhz (2GBx2) which is working fine. As I need to upgrade it to 8GB so I purchased 2x4GB DIMMs (1066Mhz).

I upgraded Mother board BIOS to latest 1.11 but it's still throwing blue screen (even with single 4GB DIMM), it looks like my laptop bus speed is just 533Mhz as new DIMM being shown as 533Mhz. I tried these 2 new DIMMs (combined and individual) on a different laptop (same make/model) but exactly same behavior is observed.

It should support 8GB without any problem as per this link - http://globalsp.ts.fujitsu.com/dmsp/Publications/public/ds-LIFEBOOK-S710.pdf

Could anyone please kindly advise what's wrong with 8GB setup, Many thanks!!

Hi there - could you post a link to the memory you purchased?

It's sometimes the case that a notebook is very sensitive to the memory installed.

Thanks. It looks like the correct spec for your notebook. So at this point, all we know is that your computer doesn't boot with it; the RAM could be defective, your notebook just isn't accepting that particular module, both ...I would try to return what you purchased if possible and cite that it doesn't work (it is after all listed as compatible with your S710). You tried booting with just one RAM module - did you try it in each slot as well?
If you can't return it, the next course of action is to find a notebook that takes the same kind of RAM and try it in there. That's the only way to eliminate whether the RAM itself is the issue. If it doesn't work in another notebook, your next course of action would be to make a warranty claim.

My computer is of the same vintage as yours as far as the processor and chipset goes. This is the memory I've been using without issues (2x 4GB configuration). I found it on Amazon UK here. You might try that. Other good RAM brands - Crucial, Kingston, Samsung, Hynix.

prvnrk, you bought high-density RAM modules, they are known to sometimes cause compatibility problems. Try using low-density RAM modules (i.e. with 8 chips on each side, 16 chips total).
