i have to say that i can get the m6805 for 1150 stright out and i would have to pay 1700 for the 6811, but then mail in the rebates. i know all of the differences in hard drive speed and Drive.

i just want to know how much faster is the 3400+ and the 3000+ which comes with the m6805?

i would be playing games but only like simcity 4 and the new Sims 2. i would also be doing some video editing, but thats downt the road a little bit.

i really dont care about the hard drive and the vd burner because i could always buy that stuff later with the money i save if i buy the m6805.

so basically would i find that theses a massive difference between the 3400+ and 3000+ or will i not notice?

i dont want a laptop and then regret it when i use a 3400+ and find its noticibly faster. if the 3400+ is much fast ima buy the m6811 if not i wanna save the money!!

    please hellp!!! :moon:

You're right, the 6805 is a better value for you. The processor speed will not be noticable unless you get involved in very demanding applications, so don't worry about that.

As for the memory, it is something you can upgrade. There's only one slot though, so you'd have to toss the current module. I'd recommend upgrading to 512MB as I think the default is 256. A 512 chip can be had for around $110.

If you want to pay $110 for 512MB, go ahead, but you can get 1GB for $159 at outpost.com:

I would suck it up and pay the extra $50 for twice the upgrade.

Yes, the $110 was from crucial.com. Just browsed through to the m6805. Their price for 1GB is over $300 though.

I would still add the $50 to make it a full 1GB for $159 from outpost.com vice 512MB for $110 from crucial.. Although the crucial is a better brand, I believe there have been some problems with crucial (kingston) Ram w/ M68xx series.

At $160 for 1GB, that's a no brainer if you ask me.

Brian, I agree wholeheartedly. However, be cautious about what brand you purchase. Some do not work, especially the extreme low end stuff.

    Brian,
Just looked at your post with "wide awake" eyes... now i see what you were saying with the "Even better...."
You were referring to the 1Gb from outpost being an even better idea, and that you had just pulled the price for 512mb from the crucial website. I need to stop posting at 4am (Singapore time)
