I just ordered a 7200rpm 60GB Hitachi travelstar replacement hard drive (surprisingly, dell had the best price at $150). I'm assuming one doesn't have to pop the case open to replace this, but rather just slide out the drive and swap with the new one? (if so, is there anything difficult in removing the drive from the plastic housing/frame?)[?]
also, found a USB2.0 10mm external case for $12 which I'm going to move the current drive to for backup purposes.

Quick update... the upgrade to the 7200rpm drive has had dramatic results in speed improvement [ ]. strongly recommend this upgrade - you can buy the Hitachi Travelstar at dell now for $142 (over 200-250 other stores). bought a great USB2.0 case for $12 shipped at Surplus computer for external backup drive.

Did that have a noticeable effect on battery life, or does rpm's even make a difference?
