We'd be posting the news if we knew. The m6811 isn't that old and Gateway doesn't have a history of moving very quickly. I don't expect anything else this year.

That looks and sounds suspiciously like the eMachines m68xx (Arima W730-K8DTR).

    First PC = Vic-20, 8" 128KB Home-Brew Floppy Drive ... Current Rig = eMachines m6805 ... Quantum Leap?

The Gateway is a rebadged M6809, which is an Arima ODM system. Secondly, I have owned my M6809 for six months + now, and I have yet to have any problems with it at all. Shoddy construction? No. The hinge crack issue was unfortunate, but even that defect did not affect the function of the system. By all accounts, the problem has been fixed through Arima.

Thirdly, while they are not on the bleeding edge of notebook construction, the eMachines line is still one of the top performers, especially for the dollar amount you will pay. As far as pure performance goes, it outstrips many a more expensive P4 or PM notebook.

Agree...looks like it is basically the same system as the 68xx. Am I right in thinking that gateway has a pretty shotty history?
