Hi all eMachines fans. I am about to purchase the eMachines m6810 at Best Buy, and I had last second jitters... that m6811 looked pretty damn nice. As far as I can tell the only differences are:
    1) AMD 3200 vs 3400
    2) DVD/CD-RW vs. DVD/CD+RW
    3) 60 GB vs. 80 GB HD

Now, of the 3, the only thing that really made me second guess is the higher processor speed of the m6811, the other two factors I know I can live without, no problem. But I was wondering if there were any other underlying differences between the two machines that make the m6811 that much better that I should know about. Things like HD speed, processor differences? video???

Any advice would be very appreciated, I don't see anyone posting about the m6810 on here, mostly m6809/11. The rebates end tommorrow, though, so please respond soon! [ :D]

    Thanks a lot.

In all actuality, besides small differences, the entire M68xx line is based on a single shell from Arima. The only differences are the CPUs, hard drive sizes, and optical drives. Everything else is basically the same.

The ratings are kind of messed up. If it were done the way it should be, then it would start with the M6805, then the M6810 should be called the M6808, then the M6809, then the current M6811 should be the M6810. The only difference between the 6809 and 6811 is the chip (3200 vs 3400). The only difference between the lower level (6805, 6810) and the upper level is what you mentioned.

There are other minor differences, such as a different DVD/CD -RW manufacturer (LiteOn, LG). Good luck!

PS: My M6809 is a dream. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Excellent battery life for its class (mainstream-at three hours), great speed and power, and good graphics. The only upgrades I plan are RAM and HD (to 7200RPM 60GB).
