I just bought a m6809 and did a clean install of Windows XP Pro SP2 slipstreamed. I only installed omega drivers, and the latest via drivers. NO AMD drivers or powernow installed. (if i do either the my cpu gets stuck at 800mhz). So now my cpu is stuck at 2ghz no matter what power state i am in and no matter which program I use (speedswitch etc.) This is a good thing, i am a gamer and want this thing to run fast. So now my problem is the fact the when I put the machine to standby mode, it WILL NOT come back up. I have to hold the power button to get it to restart. Also, when I try to put the machine in Hibernate mode it just locks solid on the preparing to hibrate screen. Has anyone else had this problem or know a fix.. Thanks.

I should also mention that I flashed the bios to both the m6811 and the Arima bios w730-k8 dtr. All 3 (including the original bios) has this problem.

There is an actual BIOS upgrade supported by eMachines on their site. And you probably should go to the AMD site and find the latest processor driver too.

Function + F3
There are very few problems that can't be solved with explosives. -
There is no bios update directly from eMachines for the m6809. I installed the newest amd drivers and all that accomplished was the stuck on 800mhz on battery. Function F3 (how i put it to sleep) does not bring it back up. Function F3, then Function F4 (if the video was just staying off) doesn't work either... I guess a couple other people where having this same problem with earlier eMachines (5xxx series) when they installed sp2. So could this just be a SP2 issue?

Ok, so this wasn't a problem with the laptop or with Windows XP SP2. Kerio personal firewall v. 2.1.5 was causing it to lock up on both standby and hibernate.. Uninstalled it and works like a charm now.. So what do people use as a firewall around here? Thanks.

The BIOS at eMachines is listed for the m6805. The m6809 is essentially the same machine. I used the Arima BIOS for a while, but when I finally 'bit the bullet' and installed SP2, I did upgrade to 'BIOS: Phoenix 0F08.P00 08/11/2004' which I got from eMachines. I put in the latest AMD driver in and haven't had any issues yet. I also upgraded some of the other drivers at that time. Here's a link to Gateway drivers http://support.gateway.com/support/supinfo/index.asp?pg=2&file=mo.html
use the 7405 or for the newest 7422 page. As you probably know, these are all minor variants of Arima http://www.arima.com.tw/ViewSupport.asp?View=71 drivers.
PS I use my routers firewall at home, Zone Alarm when mobile.

The bios version I am using is 0F08.P00 KBC v. 3308 8/11/04. But with this version on XP SP2 with the latest driver from AMD directly I have the throttling problem. No matter what power scheme I am on while just on battery power it is stuck at 800mhz. So what power scheme do you use? Do you a program to control it? ie speedswitch. Thanks
