Wow.... so I never would've imagined how much of a pain it would cause me to not have the restore CD's eMachines provides with their laptops...

After EXTENSIVE searching I think I've found most of the drivers I need. Got a driver for: video card, sound card, processor(cpudriver.exe), and even for my little touch pad.

However, even with a 2.00GHZ processor and 512mb of ram, my computer is sooo slow. If I have winamp running and then I bring up AIM or MSN messenger, my music starts skipping and the computer slows to a creep...

What really got to me was trying to install World of Warcraft and the game running like my processor was 950mhz or something. I'm not sure what is going on and I'm hoping someone might have some advice...

any chance that you might have contracted some spyware or trojans? (lol, sounds liek you might have been having unprotected sex with the internet...)

ASUS M6800Ne, P-M 1.5 Dothan, 512MB Ram, Tohiba Combo drive, Samsung Spinpoint M 40G HDD with 8M cache, Mobility Radeon 9700

Well, I opened up task manager while I was installing WoW and running winamp and my CPU Usage meter was constantly jumping from anywhere in the low 30's up to as much as 80%-90%....

Maybe this can help someone diagnose my problem? I hope so...[V]

What AV program do you use?

I had a problem with AntiVIR which resulted in 100% CPU use when playing DVD's - which rendered them unwatchable [xx(]

Once I removed it all was back to normal.

There is a lot of tweaking that you can do via start/run/msconfig and removing many items from the startup procedure.

Check that out and see if there are any dubious processes running when the PC boots.

I've tried AVG Pro and Norton 2005 Pro and neither have been able to detect a virus.....

My HardDrive started making clicking noises the other day...anyone else experience this???/ Perhaps my HD is malfunctioning and sending song date in little chops or something, I have no clue....

    help? [B)][B)]

Yes I had that problem - there is a thread on here about it - happened last Oct/Nov time.

I had the HD replaced under warranty and my gaming performance increased significantly.

My HD would start ticking then the system would lock up...

You could try defragging the drive to see if that helps.
