i don't think it's a good thing...i suggest trying 2 return it any way possible 2 get ur money back...i wouldn't suggest ordering computers from emachines since their company is like going down...post in the hardware forum for ur needs and answer the FAQ for ur needs..and we can help u find a better laptop...that's not going 2 b discontinued...for a good price and all

eMachines is "going down"? In what way? I was under the impression that it was bought out by Gateway so I would assume eMachines would be around as long as Gateway is at least so far as support goes. My only concern is that eMachines quality would become as lousy as Gateway's has over the last decade or so.

Be that as it may I really like my eMachines laptop.

Wait... I'm kinda lost, you bought the 7510GX, or the eMachines? If you have the 7510, don't return it, that is a great laptop. I don't think you can beat the performance to price ratio, other than going used. Be aware of a hinge cracking issue though, look through the huge thread about it in this forum.

As portnoy said emachines is now a part of Gateway. Infact the former CEO of emachines runs Gateway. Most probably emachines will end up only selling budget desktops...So all laptops sold previously uner the emachines brand name are now being sold under the Gateway brand name.

Yes they no longer sell laptops under the emachines brand name, is it good or bad - dont know since service & support will remain the same. The laptop is manufactured by the same ODM(Arima), so quality wise it is as good/bad as the older emachines M6800 series.

if you're shopping for notebooks, all you need to know is that eMachines no longer exists as a brand and their line was taken over by Gateway. I can only assume that an eMachine purchased notebook would indeed redirect you to a Gateway customer support/service center.
