    i plan on upgading to a 7200 rpm drive. i want to if there are any drives out there i should stear clear of, or that would be a better choice. thanks.

    I think the only availble model of a 7200rpm drive 60gb is Hitachi.. I installed one of these for around $150, and I have absolutely no problems with it... I also got an external usb hd case for the 80gb drive and threw it in there. I also believe at this this, 60gb @ 7200rpm is the best you can do for a laptop drive.

    If you want to save a few bucks, you could consider the 40GB version:

    You'll get slightly better performance as it has one less platter. Not that you'd ever likely notice. Throw the old one in an external case, as mentioned earlier by stylee. You don't need speed for storage, only for the boot drive. Good Luck.
