I just installed windows xp (home edition) sp2 via automatic update on my emachines laptop m5310. After installation, the laptop refuses to boot into windows xp and it repeatedly boots itself back to the same text screen which asks if I want to boot into safemode, safemode with networking, .., last good configuration,.., normal, etc. Problem is when I choose ANY of these options, it just boots back to that same dang page.

I had a livechat with a Customer Rep on the emachines help site,
he told me their emachines laptops' drivers are incompatible with SP2. Why dont they say that IN HUGE RED BANNERS on their website??
He told me I have to use the 3-disk restore which will wipe out ALL MY DATA.

In any case, the error I have on BSOD is : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
Can anyone help me?? I absolutely do not want to do a system restore and lose all my data. Many thanks.

Big red banners would nice. I tried SP2 on a m2350 and ended up re-installing the factory configuration, upgrading to XP-pro (which didn't go real smooth), installing SP2, re-installing applications and data.
