I'm new to the emachines brand and am wondering how the overall quality is for the new m6811. I originally wanted the Hp Pavillion zv5000z, but its graphics card is horrible. With the AMD 64 3400+ and the better graphics card, the m6811's specs are all there, but does it work! The hinges cracking is a concern for me, but I don't know if it's still a problem with the new m6811.

    Thanks

unfortunenatly the Hinge crack still plagues the Emachines line its still present in the M6810/6811, i bought an M6811 as soon as they came out to replace my M6809 that had a cracked hinge, and the new M6811 i brought home developed a crack after the first day. so i took it back and got an HP5280 and havent looked back.

Yeah, everything but the hinges seem strong about the eMach brand. To my knowledge they haven't yet admitted that the hinge is a problem though.

You probably won't find another laptop with the same performance as the 68xx for the same price. They're pretty powerful machines. As far as the hinges goes, it doesn't seem to affect the usage of the system and Emachine does know of this flaw and is willing to recall and fix them.

Overall, for the price, nothing beats the new line of eMachines. Personally, I have not had a single problem, hinges included. I know that AJVETT had some really bad luck, but, even with the hinge issue, the machine is still completely functional, which is more than some others can say (anybody hear "A-P-P-L-E" being chanted in the background?)[ :D]

How much did the RAM cost you? Generally speaking, RAM at BestBuy is tons more than if you buy online.
