Hi there--I know there are other threads on this forum discussing CPU upgrades on this laptop.
I have been following some of them, and came across this suggestion:

What I want to know is if this is the right product for my laptop, before I buy.

Here are the CPU specs on my emachines D620 (I bought this in Oct 2009 from our local store in South Africa) according to CPU-Z output:

I was going to try this myself last year but gave up because the chip was difficult to source. I suggest reading through the other thread that you posted in for what worked and what didn't ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/emachines/336445-emachine-emd620-5777-upgrades-so-far.html). Several people there reported that the 5050e worked fine in their D620s but as I recall there were a couple of issues: one post mentioned the BIOS does not correctly identify the chip and the poster was not sure if this would cause the chip to be overvolted, and the chip also runs up to over 70C under load. Undervolting is discussed there too, which would help with both issues.

I compared several ones and I think this one would fit my needs. Now I just don't know if it's compatible to my notebook and I an wondering how I can find out.
