i recently purchased the emachines 6811 amd 64 3400+ w/512 ram and ati 9600 w/64 ram and xp home

here is my problem...it takes forever sometimes to install anything...sometimes when you go to start/settings/control panel/sytstem, it will show it's running at 7xxmhz instead of the 2.2 it should be running...when i try to play games, the ingame movie/video run choppy and slow...some games won't even load (like battle for middle earth)...i tried looking in the bios to see if i could change anything...the bios is limited to change...i downloaded the newest omega drivers and installed them and still no change...i haven't tried overclocking it (don't really want to since notebooks do not cool well)...is it something in the way emachines sets up their laptops that causes these problems?...would it help if i reformatted and put a real os on the laptop instead of emachines version of windows?...any help would be appreciated...

Are you plugged in or on battery power?

Yours is not an uncommon problem, and in fact, in some ways, perfectly normal. Search the forums for "throttling" or "Power Now" for tons of info.

    First PC = Vic-20, 8" 128KB Home-Brew Floppy Drive ... Current Rig = eMachines m6805 ... Quantum Leap?
